the Union of Concerned Scientists for a webinar for economists and business
leaders, “International Climate Change
Solutions: Clean Tech and Tropical Forests,” on Thursday, April 29, 2010, from
12:30 – 2:00PM EDT .
 
Climate
change is one of the most urgent problems facing the world today. But we have the
solutions to start tackling this problem. Two important international solutions
are reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) and
the rapid deployment of clean technologies in developing nations.

The webinarwill
feature brief presentations from Dr. Doug Boucher, the director of the Tropical Forest and Climate Initiative, and Dr. Rachel
Cleetus, UCS’s climate economist. They will highlight the importance of REDD+
and clean tech deployment as climate solutions, and give an update on current U.S. legislative
opportunities and international initiatives to fund these priorities. You will
also learn how your voice can make a difference in the debate, including ways
you can help educate the public and policy makers on the need for the United States to
take a leadership role on these issues. Please join
us for a 45-minute presentation, followed by time for questions and
discussion.
