[El caso Samir Kuntar acaba de volver a las primeras planas en toda
publicación vinculada a Medio Oriente ahora que en el website de
Kuntar, prisionero israelí, aparecieron imágenes de dos rehenes
israelíes que fueron -aparentemente- asesinados por sus captores. El
website fue cerrado por el gobierno israelí (aparentemente).

Yuxtapongo tres cosas: el parte oficial del ministerio israelí de
relaciones exteriores sobre Kuntar, un artículo del Los Angeles Times
(periódico prosionista editado en Los Angeles, EEUU), y un poema
salido del alma de un judío israelí. Juzguen quienes estúpidamente
opinan que judío y sionista es lo mismo, o perversamente intentan
hacerlo creer.]

Samir Kuntar

Nació en Líbano, en  1961. Hasta su encarcelamiento, fue miembro de la
organización terrorista Frente para la Liberación Palestina (liderada
por Abú Abbas).

El 22 de abril de 1979, la célula terrorista a la que pertenece Kuntar
llegó, en un bote de goma,  hasta las costas de Nahariya; dispararon
contra un patrullero policial y asesinaron a un oficial de policía
israelí. A  medianoche, irrumpieron en la casa de la familia Haran.
Secuestraron al padre, Danny, y a su hija de 4 años. La madre, Smadar,
la pequeña hija Yael de 2 años, y un vecino se ocultaron en el
escondrijo de una habitación.

Los terroristas llevaron a los rehenes hacia la costa y, cuando se
encontraron con oficiales de la ley y soldados de las Fuerzas de
Defensa de Israel, Samir Kuntar disparó, a corta distancia,  contra
Danny Haran y mató, a sangre fría,  a Einat, golpeando su cráneo
contra una roca con la culata de su rifle. En el escondite de la casa
de la familia Haran, la pequeña Yael murió asfixiada por los intentos
de su madre de mantenerla en silencio para que los terroristas no los
encuentren.

En medio de los  tiroteos de la playa, un policía israelí y dos
miembros de la célula terrorista murieron. Los terroristas
sobrevivientes, Kuntar y Ahmed Al-Abras, fueron detenidos, condenados
y encarcelados en Israel. Al-Abras fue liberado en mayo de 1985 como
parte del intercambio de prisioneros conocido como el "Asunto
Jibril".Samir Kuntar fue condenado por asesinato, tentativa de
asesinato y secuestro, y fue sentenciado a cinco cadenas perpetuas más
47 años de prisión.

Durante ese tiempo como prisionero, Kuntar se casó con Kifah Kayyal
(nacida en 1963),  mujer árabe- israelí de Acco, residente en
Ramallah, quien estaba cumpliendo una sentencia de cadena perpetua por
sus actividades en la organización terrorista Jibril (Frente Popular
para la Liberación de Palestina - Comando General).

Durante su estadía en prisión, Kuntar fue  líder y figura central en
luchas internas de seguridad dentro de la cárcel, y considerado como
el encargado de los prisioneros libaneses en Israel. Lideró y organizó
numerosas huelgas y protestas, llevadas a cabo por los prisioneros de
seguridad.

ISRAEL: Lebanese prisoner Samir Kuntar at issue

Samir Kuntar is Israel's longest-held Lebanese prisoner. In 1979, the
Druze teenager who had grown up during Lebanon's civil war embarked on
an attack against northern Israel, one from which he hasn't returned.

Israel has suffered many attacks over the years, but the one that
killed the family of Smadar Haran and a police officer nearly 30 years
ago was seared into the nation's collective memory, and the tragic
results became a symbol.

So did Kuntar himself. A celebrity prisoner in Lebanon, Hezbollah
leader Hassan Nasrallah has set Kuntar's release as a goal, repeatedly
promising to free him and stating categorically that no prisoner swap
would take place without him. Israel is loath to free Kuntar.

In the past, Kuntar was believed to be a bargaining chip for
information about missing navigator Ron Arad. Israel had agreed to
exchange him for "concrete proof of Arad's fate" that was to have been
provided in the second stage of a 2004 German-brokered deal that had
obtained the release of Elhanan Tannebaum, a reserve army colonel, and
the bodies of three IDF soldiers abducted in 2000. The information
never came, Kuntar never left and two Israeli reservists were
kidnapped in 2006, sparking the Second Lebanon war.

A few days ago, the intelligence website "sigint" (in Hebrew),
reported that Kuntar's website was showing graphic, disturbing images
of what were said to be the charred remains of Israeli soldiers left
in the battlefields during the war two summers ago. Three days later
(the time it took me to gather the nerve to check for myself), the
website that had been established many years ago by Kuntar's brother,
was gone. "Sorry, the site you requested has been disabled," was the
message from Homestead. A reader named Shai posted a comment under the
original report: "Someone in Israel decided to put an end to this
website that displayed the shocking pictures and raised the price of
[Eldad] Regev and [Udi] Goldwasser," the two reservists held by
Hezbollah.

Kuntar, now in his mid-40s, is serving four back-to-back life
sentences plus 47 years. He plans to marry in jail for the second
time, it was reported two weeks ago (he had divorced his first wife
after being denied rights by jail authorities). The prison authority
said it had received no request for a wedding ceremony and it was
speculated that the marriage -- if it takes place-- would be performed
by exchanging documents via legal counsel. In 2005, he had given a
rare interview (in Hebrew) to an Israeli paper.
