Sorry for delay, had forgotten.

Yes, Manu (Emanuel) Ginobili is one of our great basket-ball players.
Not the single one in a particularly gifted generation, he has
eventually demonstrated that he was the best among a host of good
players. Unfortunately, I like basket-ball but I am not a fan so I
couldn't give you many particulars about him. I am sure that if you
do a short Google search, particularly through pages in Spanish and
with the ".ar" country tag you will find lots of ammo.

However, I can tell you that basket-ball has always been a very
popular sport in Argentina, mostly middle and lower middle class.
During these last 20 or 25 years, sometimes thanks to the cheap
dollar policies of the neoliberals, many Arg basket-ball clubs hired
American (generally African American) players and coaches, which has
resulted in this Ginobili and the rest.

We have had excellent voleyball teams as well as tennis players (last
year, the Roland Garros cup was disputed between two Argentineans,
and this year one it was disputed between one Argentinean and a
Spanish boy).

And, ladies and gentlement, I proudly finish this short Argentinean
Highlights in the Sports Industry Burst of Chauvinism, by mentioning
the single possible proof of the existence of God that might convince
even hard-nosed and hard-boiled Atheists such as me: Diego Armando
Maradona, the ultimate football player of all times..
