I read the article as more of a "wake up call" type of thing. If the US is
to truly lose Afghanistan the Taliban still have a long way to go. They'll
need to start routinely killing American soldiers by the score. US supply
lines will have to be heavily mangled, just not harassed like they are now.
Before the US says "Uncle" the US will start to *really* slaughter Afghanis
in a way that makes the now-typical US air strikes seem like child's play.
The US ruling class has rolled their dice. They pulled 9/11 to be able to
launch their wars into Afghanistan and Iraq. Their goal clearly is the "Silk
Road Strategy" to take control of Central Asian and Mid East oil supplies.
They've spent an obscene amount of tax money to do this.
If the US is to lose in Afghanistan NATO will be largely defunct and the US
completely bankrupt. With stakes that high, the US has a *lot* of killing to
do before it throws in the towel. The Taliban's best strategy is the typical
guerrilla strategy: avoid costly battles and keep time on your side.

torture by the US in Gitmo. He was later released as innocent.
