[R-G] A note I sent to Marxmail

Dear comrades, someone has suggested on Marxmail that the members of
that list should begin to draft a clear document on the current
crisis, for general distribution among the people of the US of
America.
I believe that this is a very good idea. It would mean a step ahead in
the meaning of these lists.
I suggest that members of the Rad-Green and A mailing lists can
collaborate with them. Same may run, probably, with Pen-Lers.
I honestly believe, from outside the Great Monster, that you have all
been put by history in a particularly important place: that of helping
history in its doing, not just commenting history led by others.

«Hic Rhodos, hic salta», comrades!
Jay's suggestion and Greg's endorsement seem to be more than enough to
begin to throw to the list a preliminary text and to work on it.
This list has been existing for long and fruitful years, and it has
been very useful in analyzing, commenting and disseminating
information among people with a strong socialist compromise, mostly US
residents.
Circumstances have put it in a completely new situation. As from what
I see from my distant vintage point, Marxmail can become a small but
meaningful beacon. I agree with Jay and Greg.
From what I have been observing here, and even with the occassional
storms of sparks that appear here and there, the Marxmail list seems
to be one of the very few places where US American socialists of
different traditions can more or less accomodate to each other and, in
a general climate not as much of tolerance as of urgency, have been
able not to go to each other's throat at every minute attempt at
dissention.
This has been, of course, the result of Louis Proyect management. Not
always of my liking, as it is reasonable in these issues, but if one
judges by the result, congrats are in order.
Perhaps this is the moment to pose a question: «Will US American
comrades on the list be up to what the situation expects from them?»
I honestly and earnestly hope the answer will be a YES.
US American Marxmailers ARE in a condition to render a great service
to the ideas they profess.
Maybe you are in a position to make history, not just comment it, comrades.
