Maybe this is just a convention bounce, but it's possible that the
gasoline prices, which haven't really come down a lot despite the
recent big fall in crude oil prices (now heading down to $100 per
barrel: <http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/92664318-7921-11dd-9d0c-000077b07658.html>),
and the delusion of "energy independence" will determine the fate of
the 2008 US presidential elections. The biggest applause at the RNC
was heard when the chant of "Drill, Baby, Drill" went up, or so I
