It is questionable whether or not think tankers really drive much in
terms of policy. Instead what seems to happen is that they
propagandize in search of patronage. They are just ideological whores.
Much of Rand falls into that category. OTOH, they do great service to
all the politicians and federal militarists by dumbing down media
discourse so effectively. It does wear you out just listening to them
on CNN and BBC.
