In the last decades of the Twentieth Century, the Canadian military
defined itself as a peace-keeping force. After 2002, processes of
continental integration following 9/11 began to influence the
self-definition of the Canadian Forces. Our military now presents itself
as a fighting, not a peace keeping force.
