In the above article, EB had some info about how to evaluate past  
U.S.G.S claims about undiscovered oil.




In one case, they predicted that the Falkland Islands area would  
probably produce 6 billion barrels of oil.



as of 2004, they had found no oil field containing 140 million  
barrels, the minimum amount for drilling to be worthwhile.



Maybe they have gotten a lot better; maybe EB is cherry picking  
failures.
