Caracas, Apr 20 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan socialists are
consolidating their partisan structure with the selection of
candidates for regional work teams, and coordination of alliances with
new political organizations.
This week, the faction grouping the majority of President Hugo Chavez'
followers was officially named the United Socialist Party of Venezuela
(PSUV), and is the successor of the extinct Fifth Republic Movement.
In addition, new forces joined the Patriotic Alliance summoned by
Chavez to reinforce the revolutionary process in the country ahead of
the regional elections in November.
Despite the wave of opposition candidates, PSUV Vice President Alberto
Muller indicated they are not interested in starting proselytizing
campaigns until they have well defined projects to solve the people's
problems.
He added they expect to announce the conformation of regional working
teams next week, which will have the mission to investigate the most
urgent needs of the population, and develop strategies to solve them.
Regarding that, Chavez called for Venezuelans to urge their future
candidates to governors, mayors, and legislators to present concrete
projects and execute them along with the communities during their
managements.
