Step it Up
Dear James,

The time has come. On Saturday, November 3, please join people across the
country as we Step It Up in the fight against global warming.

With exactly one year before the 2008 elections, we'll send a clear
message to candidates - the time for leadership is now. It's time for our
leaders to make deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, increase fuel
economy standards, and make big investments in renewable energy.

To demand real leadership from our politicians, we have to show some
leadership ourselves. So step up to organize an action>>

or invite your political leaders>>

and demand leadership on global warming today.

TAKE ACTION!

1) Organize or attend an event in your community. It's easy - we've got
plenty of tips and tools you can use to make it a success.

2) Invite members of Congress and other political candidates to join you.
So far 322 members of Congress and presidential candidates have received
invitations to November 3 events. Help us get every member of Congress and
candidate in America to a Step It Up event on November 3rd!

Even if you can't organize an event, you can help us flood Congress with
hundreds of invitations to Step It Up events.

Local events. National impact. Join us and find out who is simply a
politician, and who's ready to be a leader.

Excited? So are we. With your help, every politician in America will hear
our united call for action on global warming. I hope you'll Step It Up
with us on November 3!

Sincerely,

Samantha Rogers

NUKE POWER GIVE-AWAY

You and I both know that the nuclear industry is anything but "green."
Radioactive waste poses a danger for 240,000 years, there's no safe way to
dispose of it, and the potential for accidents threatens thousands of
lives, making nuclear energy a dangerous "alternative."

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, the nuclear industry has
been touting a comeback, and they claim to be a "green" alternative energy
to global warming pollution.

Right now, Congress is considering approving loan guarantees worth $50
billion of YOUR taxpayer dollars to build new nuclear power plants. The
Energy Department's Inspector General recently found that this would
result in a "significant risk to the Government and, therefore, the
American taxpayer."

Take Action >> Tell your Representative NOT to fund nuclear energy.

Don't allow more lives to be put in jeopardy. Take a look at our map of
nuclear power plants to see for yourself how many people could be
impacted. http://webthing.greenpeaceusa.org/nuclear_locator/
Maybe even you?

Join me, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, and thousands of
others in the effort to STOP the spread of nuclear power.

Sincerely,

Jim Riccio
