Venezuela Protects Oil at All Costs
Caracas, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) Faced with potential US aggression
for oil control, Venezuela will incorporate the Bolivarian Militias
into the National Armed Forces (NAF), in agreement with the principle
of a "war of all the people," explained the Defense minister, General
Gustavo Rangel.
Rangel told the press in Maracaibo that this body would be a special
branch of NAF, the same as the military reserves.
The minister explained that the Constitution establishes four
branches (Navy, Army, National Guard and Air Force) but does not
limit the creation of special branches such as the Bolivarian
militias, which will made up of fully trained civilians.
This is a new defensive focus for Venezuela that is different from
the professional style of the United States and incorporates the
entire population defense of the nation.
President Hugo Chavez, main proponent of this doctrine, considers
that it is necessary to prepare millions of Venezuelans in case of a
foreign aggression and to defend the country, "house by house" if
necessary.
Chavez warned of the intentions of the United States government to
control the energy wealth of the nation, fifth world oil exporter,
when fossil fuel is reaching its extinction.
He explained that a civic-military alliance is in accord with the
concept of war of all the people that would guarantee hostility for
more than a century if necessary, in case of occupation of the
territory by a larger force, he added.
