Al-Anbar Province.
Hit.

Resistance bombards US military headquarters in Hit.

In a dispatch posted at 4:25pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four
82mm mortar rounds into the Teachers Training Institute – a facility
that US forces have taken over and turned into their headquarters in
the city of Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad.

The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local
eyewitnesses as saying that the mortar shells scored direct hits on
the American-occupied building, sending plumes of smoke rising into
the sky.

Al-Fallujah.

American warplanes demolish private home killing family of six near
al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 10:49am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that US warplanes struck a residential home in the
area of as-Sqlawiyah, northwest of al-Fallujah, about 60km west of
Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who
live in as-Saqlawiyah as saying that American fighter bombers struck
a civilian home in the az-Zagharid area of as-Saqlawiyah, completely
demolishing the house and killing the entire family of six who lived
there – three women, one man, and two children.

al-Islam reported that US troops had shot and killed an elderly
Iraqi peasant in the al-Karmah area east of al-Fallujah.

opened fire on the elderly farmer as he was irrigating crops in his

In a dispatch posted at 10:39am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US
column on the highway near the al-Bu Munaysir area of Abu Ghurayb,
about 30km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as
saying that the bomb went off by a column of several troop
transports, Humvees, and minesweepers. The blast disabled a
minesweeper, wounding four US troops who were aboard it.

Baghdad.

Pro-US Shi`i sectarian militias burn 14 Sunni students with sulfuric
acid, drill holes in their heads with electric drills. Families
must bribe ambulance drivers to get bodies of tortured murdered
loved ones.

In a dispatch posted at 8:55pm Makkah time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-
Islam reported that fourteen bodies of Sunni youths who had been
savagely tortured and murdered were delivered on Sunday to the
Forensic Medicine Center in central Baghdad's Bab al-Mu`azzam
district.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported families of the
victims area said that all 14 were college students who were about
to finish up and graduate. But on Friday, 23 June, pro-American
Shi`i sectarian militiamen, wearing the uniform of the American-
backed Iraqi puppet army, arrested them from their homes in the
predominantly Hur Rajab section of Baghdad and took them away.

Their bodies showed up Sunday in the Forensic Medicine Department
where the medical experts issued a report saying that the victims
had been burned with concentrated sulfuric acid and electric drills
were used to punch holes in their skulls.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the families
were only able to retrieve the bodies of their sons by paying two
ambulance drivers a million Iraqi dinars to get them out of the
morgue. Pro-American Shi`i sectarian militias have positioned
themselves around hospitals for about one month, ready to arrest
Sunnis who come to pick up the bodies of their loved ones. This has
prevented Sunni families from being able to recover bodies of
relatives tortured and murdered by the sectarian militias that
operate with the backing of the US occupation regime.

The families in Hur Rajab therefore collected a million Iraqi dinars
as a bribe to pay the ambulance drivers so that they might bring the
bodies of the victims to a neutral place in the occupied Iraqi
capital where the relatives would be able to recover them.

US, Iraqi puppet regime, said holding secret talks with former
generals in Iraqi Army.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that for three days the US-installed
puppet government of Nuri al-Maliki had been holding secret talks
with high-ranking US military commanders and former generals and
officers the Iraqi Army from before the American invasion.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a highly
placed source who asked to remain anonymous as claiming that serious
and high-level talks were under way and that 30 commanders of the
Iraqi Army from before the US invasion – including men with the rank
of Lieutenant General, Major General, and Brigadier General – were
taking part in the discussions along with the American occupation
commanders.

The source alleged that the talks are focused on several issues,
including returning officers in the former Iraqi Army to their posts
and giving them their back pay for the period from 9 April 2003
until the present. Other points under discussion include the hand
over of command in the American-created Iraqi puppet forces to the
Iraqi commanders from the pre-invasion era. Another point on the
agenda under discussion is the release of all the currently-
imprisoned Iraqi officers – naval, air force, and ground forces – in
return for a complete halt of their military and material support
for the Iraqi Resistance, and an effort to convince the Resistance
to lay down its weapons and join the US-sponsored political system,
in which Resistance commanders would be given governmental posts.

The source told Mafkarat al-Islam that the negotiations were still
underway on a daily basis, having begun three days earlier. The
source refused to say whether the former Iraqi Army commanders were
going along with the proposals or not.

Imprisoned Iraqi President Saddam Husayn still on hunger strike,
lawyer says.

In a dispatch posted at 2:20pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon,

reports created by the US military command that Iraqi President
Saddam Husayn had ended his hunger strike over the murder of one of
his defense lawyers.

representing President Saddam Husayn at the American show "trial"
underway in Baghdad, said that Saddam Husayn had not ended his
hunger strike as the US military claimed. Ad-Dulaymi said that the
Iraqi President planned to remain on hunger strike until specific
demands, brought up by the murder of attorney Khamis al-`Ubaydi on
Wednesday, 21 June, had been met.

President Saddam Husayn was demanding that the murderers of al-
`Ubaydi be punished and that permission be granted for the formation
of a body to ensure the protection of the lawyers and their
transportation.
