Baghdad.

"The Day of Slaughter" US-installed puppet regime announces massive
sweep of largely Sunni areas beginning at dawn on Wednesday. Shi`i
sectarian militias known for the torture and murder of Sunnis are to
take part along with US, Iraqi puppet troops.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Makkah time Tuesday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the American-installed Iraqi puppet
regime announced that it would begin a large-scale military
operation involving the deployment of tens of thousands of Iraqi
puppet army troops, puppet police and US occupation forces in al-
Anbar Province, Samarra', Ba`qubah, al-Mawsil, Kirkuk, al-Mada'in,
al-Latifiyah, and neighborhoods in al-Hillah. Sources are calling
the impending operation the "Day of Slaughter."

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a statement
issued by the puppet "Prime Minister" Nuri al-Maliki said that the
purpose of the massive campaign of wholesale arrests and represion
was to "draw out the `terrorists', cut off their movements and spot
them and then arrest or neutralize them." By "terrorists" the
American-appointed puppet "Prime Minister" meant the Iraqi
Resistance.

A source in the Iraqi puppet army's 6th Division told Mafkarat al-
Islam that the operation is to involve raids and searches of houses
in the Baghdad districts of al-`Amiriyah, al-Ghazaliyah, al-Mansur,
al-A`zamiyah, ad-Durah, al-Khadra', as-Salikh, al-Jihadh, and ash-
Sha`b. The source said that US troops would openly lead the
operation in areas outside of Baghdad, beginning at dawn on
Wednesday.

The puppet army source said that Iraqi Sunnis were terrified at the
prospect of the massive sweep that the American-installed regime is
officially codenaming "forward together." "The Day of Slaughter" is
how Sunnis have taken to refer to the impending American-led
campaign, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. Iraq's Sunnis are
particularly concerned because it has been reported that the puppet
forces engaged in the massive offensive on the civilian population
are to include the pro-American Shi`i sectarian militias, such as
the Badr Brigade, whose record of wholesale torture and murder of
Sunnis is well known.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported Iraqi puppet army Major
General `Abd al-`Aziz Muhammad as saying that more than 40,000
American occupation soldiers and Iraqi puppet troops are to carry
out the massive assault on the people of Iraq on Wednesday. The
general said that armored personnel carriers and tanks were to be
used in the offensive, in which the Americans will rely on
information from their Intelligence division to locate "suspects."

The puppet army general said that no date had been set for the
conclusion of the massive repression campaign, because it is
a "strategic plan" to "impose order" on regions where "tension" –
i.e., resistance to the occupation – can be found. Al-Jazeera
reported that the plan "was apparently laid out by American
commanders."

In a desperate attempt to limit the murderous effect of the
impending sweep, Sunni religious leaders and notables in the
targeted areas have urged families with more than three children to
distribute the children in homes of relatives in order to prevent
whole families from being arrested and then disappearing.

US shuts down telephone, internet communications in Sunni areas as
American offensive throughout Iraq gets underway after dark Tuesday
night.

In a dispatch posted at 9:45pm Makkah time Tuesday night, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that US occupation forces had shut down all
telephone service – both land lines and cellular phones – and jammed
Internet communications in all the predominantly Sunni areas of
Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US
occupation announced that a curfew had been imposed, beginning at
9pm and lasting until 6am, preventing Sunnis from going to mosques
to say their night or early morning prayers.

The correspondent reported that during the hours of curfew, large
numbers of military vehicles began pouring into the Sunni areas of
al-`Amiriyah, al-A`zamiyah, al-Ghazaliyah, al-Mansur, al-Jihad, ash-
Sha`b, as-Salikh, and ad-Durah as well as other areas as the
offensive by US and Iraqi puppet troops and sectarian militias
begins to get under way.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad reported that Sunni
Iraqis in the capital are preparing for wholesale slaughter,
beginning with mass arrests and ending with murders, given the
active participation of the Shi`i sectarian militias in the
offensive getting underway in during Tuesday-Wednesday night.

Mafkarat al-Islam apologized in advance for any delays that their
coverage of events might experience in the next few days, since the
extreme repression promised by the American backed-sectarian regime
means that the capture of any Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent can
only end with his death.

US President Bush visits Iraq on eve of "Day of Slaughter" offensive
to meet puppet "Prime Minister" and celebrate killing of az-Zarqawi
with occupation troops.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Makkah time Tuesday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US President George W. Bush arrived
on a surprise visit to occupied Iraq, apparently in order to
encourage the American troops on the eve of a massive offensive that
Iraqis are apprehensively calling the "Day of Slaughter."

The White House, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, announced that
Bush was to stay in occupied Iraq for only five hours, long enough
for him to talk to US occupation troops and confer with the newly
appointed puppet "Iraqi Prime Minister" Nuri al-Maliki.

The American Associated Press reported that Iraqi puppet "Prime
Minister" Nuri al-Maliki met with Bush in the high security area
around the Republican Palace in Baghdad, the area dubbed the "Green
Zone" by US forces where the massive American embassy is located.
Bush reportedly met with his top advisers on Iraq at Camp David on
Monday, prior to making his unannounced visit to the American-
occupied country.

US-appointed "judge" closes hearings of American-sponsored
show "trial" of Saddam Husayn, turning it into a secret process.

In a dispatch posted at 2:09pm Makkah time Tuesday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US-apppointed "judge" in the
American-sponsored show "trial" of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn and
seven other imprisoned Iraqi leaders closed the proceedings to the
public and turned the 34th session of the "trial" into a secret
session.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported
that the "judge" Ra'uf Rashid `Abd ar-Rahman, a Kurd who has
displayed open bias against the defendants since he was appointed to
the bench by the US occupation, closed the session after one of the
defense attorneys objected to the way the session was being handled.

Tuesday's 34th session was to be the last in which testimony for the
defense was heard in a "case" that centers on the punishment by the
Iraqi government of 148 individuals who took part in an attempt to
over throw the Iraqi government and assassinate Saddam Husayn in the
town of ad-Dujayl in 1982. After the attempted putsch, the
conspirators were brought to trial and executed according to the law
of the Iraqi state. Today the American occupation regime is
attempting to present that case as a "crime" perpetrated by Iraqi
President Saddam Husayn and other Iraqi leaders. The first session
of the American-backed show "trial" over the trumped-up charges took
place on 19 October 2005.

Also on Tuesday, "judge" `Abd ar-Rahman again barred Barzan at-
Tikriti, the half-brother of Saddam Husayn and former head of Iraq's
Intelligence, from the courtroom, having had him bodily expelled
from Monday's session after he argued with the "judge"

Sayyidiyah as saying that Resistance fighters armed with machine
guns attacked a sedan carrying four Shi`i sectarian militiamen on
the main road to the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah. The
Resistance fighters killed the four pro-American gunmen and then
immediately withdrew from the area.

Witnesses said that the four who were killed had been involved in
burning Sunni mosques in the period following the mysterious bombing

bomb that had been planted by the highway that goes to Iraq's
western provinces blew up when a US column was driving past. The
explosion destroyed one American troop transport vehicle.

Tuesday.

al-Islam reported that a total of four car bombs had exploded in
Kirkuk, killing 37 and wounding 18 more.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that one of the car
bombs blasted into the house of the puppet police chief in Kirkuk,
Turan Muhammad, but failed to kill him.

A second explosives-laden vehicle blew up five minutes later in the
middle of the city. A third car bomb driven by an Iraqi Resistance
fida'i fighter exploded by the puppet police station less than an

more.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam denied reports being carried
by Arab and international media saying that the second car bomb
exploded by a home for the retarded, saying that the bomb in fact
was targeted on a coffee house in which were gathered puppet police
and puppet army personnel who were engaged in gambling.

The correspondent attended a press conference in which the chief of
the puppet police in Kirkuk and the US military commander. The
American officer told media representatives that the Tuesday attacks
were a "natural response to the American killing of Abu Mus`ab az-
Zarqawi" and said that in retaliation for the American air raid that
killed az-Zarqawi the followers of al-Qa`idah were taking vengeance
on the Shi`ah and the Kurds – in keeping with American attempts to
blame sectarian conflict on the Iraqi Resistance. But one of the
chiefs of a Sunni Arab tribe who was attending the press conference
immediately objected to the American officer's claims, saying that
his remarks were an attempt to spread sectarian strife in the
country.
