IF... advice from George Bush Senior to his son, George W.Bush

If you can milk the 9/11 disaster,
Pretend al-Qaida's funded by Saddam,
Your standing in the polls will improve faster,
For how many will know your claim's a sham?
If you can terrify your entire nation,
Persuade them they're in danger of attack,
You'll win their overwhelming approbation
For most opposing voices will backtrack.

If you can bribe and bully Third-World nations,
To swallow their grave doubts about your aims,
If you purvey your bogus allegations,
And fabricate intelligence for your claims,
If you conceal your actual intentions,
Convince the world you'll set Iraqis free,
Folks will forget, and you should never mention,
Which countries furnished Saddam's weaponry.

If you provoke enough defenders,
To take part in another 'turkey-shoot',
The world will see just why you must defend us
>From evil tyrants and their mindless brutes.
If your smart bombs can trigger mass destruction,
America's economy will soar,
For U.S. firms will corner reconstruction,
And nothing pleases Wall Street like a war.

If you establish bases for your forces,
While claiming Muslim terror has increased,
Then you'll control Iraq's immense resources,
And soon you'll dominate the Middle East.
If you can wield the sword of God Almighty,
Until your war on terrorism's won,
And sell that look of messianic piety,
Well then, you'll get to rule the world, my son!
