Who hasn't figured out that the republican conspiracy is purposely allowing the killing of hundreds of Iraqis by the opposition, in order
to negatively effect the Iraqi populace's opinion of the opposition?

This is very very wrong. The Iraqi resistance so far has outsmarted the
American/British Occupiers by quite some margin, and they have done so by
targetting anyone who, for any reason, works with the Occupation.

I am not sure that Macdonald's reply actually disproves James's. He doesn't actually talk about whether they "purposely allow" the killings, and just gives an assessment of the resistance's tactics, ignoring the point james was making about the Americans policy.

I agree that the Iraqi resistance knows what it is doing, and agree with Macdonalds assessment that they are trying to isolate the Americans. But (at least in the paragraph quoted) James did not appear to be commenting on the resistance's tactics or motives, but was instead claiming the Americans allow these attacks to take place.

I think James goes too far, in that I doubt the Americans are *deliberately* allowing attacks to take place. Such a policy would be counter-productive at many levels, and would risk a considerable "blow-back" if it was exposed.

However, the Americans obvious *do* care more about their own troops dying, and obviously do more to protect them than the Iraqi collaborators.

But this is simply an example of the Americans prioritising their lives over those of their puppets and allies.

No conspiracy or policy is required to make the Iraqi police vulnerable, only callousness and/or a lack of resources and skill to defend all things at once.

I am sure the Americans hope that such attacks against collaborators will turn the people of Iraq against the resistance, but I think that unlikely.
