To this analysis by Fred I would like to add that the ruling class is
supported by a large group of middle class America that allows itself to be
lied to; that is comfortable accepting the decisions of the ruling class
because it's easier that way, because they represent a convenient Democracy,
and after all Saddam will get what he deserves and the people in Iraq will
be liberated and finally have chance to abandon their heretic and
fundamentalist religion. Our bombs will only target hidden missiles and
biological weapons,  this operation will be over in a question of a few
days, no American casualties (which is the one important guarantee that
people expect) and then business as usual. We will continue to buy gas at an
accessible price and our economy will prosper. The economy in Iraq will also
prosper and it will be another Panama, Cuba in the 50's, Venezuela in the
60's.; lot's of American GI's, bordellos, American cars, roads and plenty of
shops with all kinds of attractive items for tourists that will flock to
Holiday Inn's, Hiltons etc.
Forget the unfortunate souls that are trapped in a land that is rich in
black gold, forget the patriotic and brainwashed soldiers who will wonder
years later why they have cancer or some other ailment. The ruling class
will have more power and the middle class will have bought another American
dream.
