FYI-Lackawanna is the Western New York community in which the FBI arrested 5
men of Arab descent and claims to have "busted" an Al-Qaida Terrorist Cell
operating in the Buffalo area. [September 13-14] Since 9/11 many Arab and
Muslims have been concerned for their security and safety of living and
having their children grow up in an atmosphere of fear, intimidation and
terror. Discussion groups and initiatives have been taking place among the
concerned people of that community to help resolve these problems. Out of
this came the Lackawanna Discussion Group and Open Forums For Alternatives
who has always taken the stance "Stand Together In Defense Of The Rights Of
All!" The FBI and police raids has only intensified this struggle even more
and has made this struggle much more important and significant for all
people. I will be sending some more information on Lackawanna from the
USMLO.ORG website...

STATE TERROR IN LACKAWANNA

LEND A HAND

The Lackawanna Discussion Group is calling on all concerned individuals,
groups small and large, unions, churches, synagogues, mosques, community,
social, environmental and political organizations to lend a hand by sending
statements of support to the Lackawanna community. The community, especially
those of Arab descent, continues to face unjust collective punishment by
police forces and the media. They are guilty of no crime yet are being
targeted as criminals, branded guilty as "supporters of terrorism" based
solely on their being of Arab descent, or their religion, views or simply
living in Lackawanna. High school youth and young children are being
photographed by police and accosted by media, asked if they "support
terrorism" and "like living with terrorists." Those in the community like
all human beings have the right to their own beliefs. We ask that all stand
together with the Lackawanna community so that none stands alone in
defending the right to conscience and all rights of the people.
