[Marxism] A People's History of the European Union?

As the June elections for the Parliament of the European Union are 
approaching, and it seems more and more likely I will be mounting a 
campaign under the Communist ticket, I was wondering if comrades on this 
list could recommend to me any comprehensive, Marxist or similar 
critical looks at the history of the European Union thus far.

(Of particular interest to me are the Nordic countries and their place 
in the EU, the power relations between the "big" and "small" players, as 
well as the use of the common EU labor market as a tool to circumvent 
national collective agreements, etc ...)
