I previously announced the launch of READING FROM THE LEFT, a
non-commercial project to promote socialist pamphlets and books.
I'm pleased to report that the initial response, from readers and
publishers, has been excellent.
Monthly Review Press has joined the project, and we have begun posting
chapters from selected Monthly Review titles. Already online are
chapters from these recent releases:
-The Ecological Revolution (Foster)
-The Challenge and Burden of Historical Time (Meszaros)
-Embedded with Organized Labor (Early)
Our latest addition is the Resistance Books (Australia) pamphlet
"Meltdown: A Socialist View of the Capitalist Crisis," featuring
articles by Tony Iltis, Lee Sustar, John Bellamy Foster, Phil Hearse,
Adam Hanieh, and Dave Holmes.
We will be gradually adding a large number of Resistance Books
publications over the coming weeks.
The most popular downloads in our first three weeks of operation include:
-The Path (Michael Lebowitz)
-Why Washington Hates Iran (Barry Sheppard)
-Marx, Engels and Darwin (Ian Angus)
-Cuba: How the Workers & Peasants Made the Revolution (Chris Slee)
-Comintern: Revolutionary Internationalism in Lenin's Time (John Riddell)
These pamphlets and many more, plus chapters from current socialist
books, are available as free PDF downloads at
