Or we can might say that criticisms of Lenin are welcome, but they need to 
be substantive criticisms, not flip dismissals.

Whatever and how much ever Lenin got wrong, he got the main thing right--  
the necessity to take power on the basis of class organization; the 
necessity to wage a civil-war to defend that power.

There was, after all, a real proletarian revolution.  That, and Lenin's part 
of that, history deserves a bit more than the old "not giving a toss"  toss.
