An interesting article; however, it is worth pointing out a few facts that
are very little brought into consideration on this topic both in USA and
Europe..
1. It is generally acknowledge that putting on weight, is and during most
of recorded history has been, very well related to age - man, even a
majority of older people, both men and women tend to put on weight.
2. Over the last century and a half, in all northern countries the
expectation of life has steadily increased, due very much to improved
hygiene, improved food, better housing conditions and the substantial
elimination of infectious diseases. Consequently the age distribution of the
population has been steadily increasing - resulting overall in a fatter
population - without even consideing the posssible influence of less
vigorous working conditions and life styles.
