Disagree. Think the song sucks.  But there's no accounting for taste. 
Guthrie was OK; even OK people write crappy songs.  The song is infused with 
the myth of US exceptionalism that is really nothing more than manifest 
destiny all dressed down with somewhere to go.  Never was our land.  Never 
was made for "you and me."  Made by slavery, ruthless exploitation, wars of 
conquest, beggar-thy-neighbor trade policy, slaughter of the innocents, 
slitting throats for a dime and demanding a user fee on the razor from the 
victims.

Not a "land,"  but an abbatoir with a central bank.

And Seeger?  Now that guy is a maggot gagging.
