 I am with you on this, but I understand the original article you wrote about did 
mainly criticize the media, and the public perception of the two persons, without 
making those conceptions their owns. 

  Like pointing out that a "negro" who goes to Harvard is "uppity", while a 
woman from a small town becoming that town's mayor, and then governer of a 
US federal state and finally US vice president the incorporation of the 
"American dream" and the "frontier spirit".
