Same here! I became an atheist at the age of 10, after a year of driving my mother crazy by trying to really follow the rules of my family's nominal orthodox Judiasm. (My uncle, the main adult male around since my father was usually away, was rigidly orthodox. Perhaps not coincidentally, he was also the wealthiest member of the family. He was also nearly totally blind, and I spent many hours of my childhood reading stock prices to him.)

It took another 5+ years for me to become anti-Israel. That followed on my reading an article in the Militant on the Suez invasion.

P.S. I became a vegetarian before becoming an atheist, and the former may have partly determined the latter. I went through with the bar mitzvah to avoid war with my family, but I got the concession from them that the reception would be in a vegetarian/dairy restaurant. >:-}
