[Marxism] Supercapitalism by Robert Reich

Geez, this is nothing but baloney. Influenced by the social contract
theorists? Mentored by Robert F. Kennedy? Serving in 3 administrations?
And proudly in the Clinton Administration, which was one of the really super
ones of super-capitalism?

No wonder his big discovery is the distinction between the "golden age" of
capitalism after WW2, and the "tawdry" capitalism of post OPEC 1... as if
the former did not produce, create, become the latter... as if the golden
age was really that golden. Korea? just digging for gold. Vietnam? just
refining the ore. Racism? just white gold.

And the problem? Is it with corporations? Is it inherent in accumulation,
in the generation and realization of profit? No. It's in us, you and me, as
consumer/investors.

His explanation of the transition from democracy to super-capitalism is just
about as superficial as you can get-- a transition from beneficient monopoly
to unbridled competition, which of course was the original gold in the
golden age of capitalism. No, Reich's not deconstructing Lenin, not turning
Hegel upside down, but rather standing Ayn Rand on her head. And in neither
position does it,she,he have any ground to (head) stand on.
