Come on, you can do better than that. Class struggle doesn't spring full
blown from somebody's forehead. What I did say, Mr. Munckton, is that
Morales tailed behind the movement; that Morales actually endorsed Mesa's
40% solution when the mass movement was demanding nationalization; that it
was only after almost every other organization and group on the left had
spoken for nationalization that Morales changed his position.
I never said the election of Morales was a setback to the revolution. I
think the election of Morales was inevitable, the necessity of a revolution
still emerging and not prepared yet to take all the power and responsibility
for organizing society, for resisting counterrevolution into its own hands.
Here's what I do say-- Bolivia is in a revolutionary situation. Morales
and the MAS are incapable of resolving those economic contradictions in the
organization of labor and land and property that are at the source of the
contradictions. Consequently, the right will strengthen itself. A
successful response involves the organization of class power on local and
national levels, workers councils for those of us who believe in pie in the
sky as opposed to state capitalism. Without that, we will get a repeat of
Allende, the MNR in 64.
So you got what you got-- MAS and Morales, who can't even land a plane, or
refuel a helicopter in parts of his own country, but can abide the fatal
shootings of miners demonstrating for secure pensions.
You want to create a straw man of betrayal-- go right ahead, but don't come
to me for the straw.
Like I said, and will say again, cut the crap.
