Maybe, maybe not.  But never underestimate the vicious pettiness that 
informs so much of the "American Heartland"  [read UnReconstructed South]. 
That heartland longs for nothing so much as the restoration of the right to 
lynch, burn, and terrorize.

Obama wins, maybe.  And then the Republican Party, the heir to the estate of 
John C. Calhoun will mobilize those nightriders in the resurrection of 
"nullification" of federal laws and policies, giving way to a peculiarly US 
version of media-lunatics.
