The main point with Mercosur is that it unites Argentina and Brazil,
still, the "Franco-German" alliance upon which the European Union
could be built while no other alliance allowed for this to happen. But
the importance of UNaSur, as well as the Southern Bank, must by all
means NOT be diminished. And Arg-Bra share in both inititatives. The
Bolivarian revolution might provide the nexus with all of Latin
America North of Venezuela (from Mexicali to San Juan de Puerto Rico),
and in a sense ALBA may serve this end.

But without the unity of Argentina and Brazil, there can be no unity
of Latin America.

This is the lever that moves the world.

This is why Perón and Vargas, who were attempting to accomodate to the
Cold War and to accept US American capital, etc., were overthrown.
Both insisted in the union of Arg and Brazil, and this was utterly
unacceptable.
