Dear Friend of United for Peace and Justice,
We are approaching 2 tragic milestones -- the 5th anniversary of the
Iraq War and the 4,000 U.S. soldier killed during it. What the Iraqi
people have lost is beyond counting.
Taking action together is the only way we're going to find our way out
of this.
On Wednesday, March 19, a bold, creative day of nonviolent direct
action will take place in Washington, DC. There are huge pillars of
support for this war and occupation -- our tax dollars, the military,
the mainstream media, corporate war profiteers, and the security state.
Our actions on March 19 in DC will target these pillars, demonstrating
the real costs of war and offering visions for a more just and
sustainable world, a world at peace.

Momentum is building and there's still time for you to make plans to
JOIN US IN DC on March 19th! Visit www.5yearstoomany.org/march19dc to
register and to find details about the actions, housing, rides,
trainings and more resources. There will be many ways for those who do
not wish to risk arrest to participate in and support the actions.

We've also just secured free mass housing for Sunday, March 16, through
Tuesday, March 18, at St. Stephens Church in northwest DC. Please email
JHarris866 at aol.com if you need housing and make sure to include your
name, contact information, and the nights you will need housing.
If you can't make it to DC, you can still help ensure the day's success
by making the most generous donation you can to help cover expenses as
well as any legal fees those risking arrest might incur. Your financial
support will help make it possible for us to reach the full potential of
this important day. http://www.5yearstoomany.org/donate
We also want to remind you that tonight the historic Winter Soldier:
Iraq and Afghanistan hearings will begin in Washington, DC. Please take
some time tonight or over the weekend to watch or listen to the
testimony of veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The
stories they share will be difficult to hear, but it is critical that we
do so, and that we get as many people in this country as possible to do
so as well. Their voices, their truth must be heard.

Many public Winter Soldier viewings are being held around the country;
click here to find one near you
(http://ivaw.org/wintersoldier/viewinglocations). The broadcast will
be accessible via satellite TV, or your public access cable station may
be carrying it; you can also watch or listen online -- click here for
details. http://ivaw.org/wintersoldier/howtowatch
Finally, if you can't join us in Washington, there are hundreds of
anti-war activities all around the country marking the 5th anniversary
of the war in Iraq -- http://events.unitedforpeace.org/5yearstoomany --
(and dozens more around the world:
http://www.theworldagainstwar.org/index.php/Table/Demonstrations/index.php).
Almost 600 events are already listed on our calendar, and more are being
listed hourly. Check now to see what's planned in your area during this
coming week. http://events.unitedforpeace.org/5yearstoomany
