That write-in candidate won't win, however. As Abu says,  "A victory is what
could inspire confidence in peoples' ability to make change." This is why he
is advocating a vote for Obama, so that people feel confident hat *they*
brought about the *victory*.

Once they feel confident, people can be prevailed upon to raise more and
more demands, including some demands that could even be radical and
socialist.

The idea is that people's demands would keep putting pressure on Obama from
the left, and when/if Obama fails to deliver, the momentum from the people
will find a way to surge forward with or without Obama.
