Great post! I'd like to add only that Spira's nom de plume was "Henry
Gitano," signaling both solidarity with the world's most widely
oppressed ethnic group and his own wonderfully peripatetic life story.
(By the way, both he and his long-time lover Myra Tanner Weiss
protested my expulsion from the SWP in 1964).
