Or add to this his quotes about Katrina:
"Is bailing out people that chose to live on the coastline a proper function
of the federal government?" he asks. "Why do people in Arizona have to be
robbed in order to support the people on the coast?"
Or his feelings about the Civil Rights Act of 1964:
"I would vote against it... it hurt personal liberties"
Or his thoughts about the separation of church and state:
"Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the
elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that
religion must be driven from public view....The notion of a rigid separation
between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution
or the writings of our Founding Fathers. "
Or about evolution:
"I think its just a theory... I don't accept it"
Or about healthcare:
"The lesson is clear: when government and other third parties get involved,
health care costs spiral. The answer is not a system of outright socialized
medicine, but rather a system that encourages everyone – doctors, hospitals,
patients, and drug companies – to keep costs down."
What amazes me is not how awful all of his politics are (they are standard,
well-worn libertarian positions)... but that anyone other than pimply
adolescents hooked on Ayn Rand would give him a second glance.
