Last nights Iowa results were pretty interesting.
Watching CNN entrance poll figures showed that young
Democratic caucusers were overwhelmingly going to vote
for Obama, and that older Demo caucusers were
overwhelmingly going to vote for Clinton.
My guess is that the very high (historically) turn out
reflected a movement amnog younger voters against the
war. The votes for Edwards, but especially for Obama,
reflected that mood more than any other single factor.
On the other hand, the Huckabee vote shows that the
evangelical right wing is serious about capturing the
machinery of the Republican Party rather than making a
deal.
Both imperialist parties seem to have some big
internal problems to handle.
Let's hope their problems continue to grow! If they
would both just split and explode by the end of the
primary season we could have a great poltiical year.
Still, I am not planning to return tot he USA any time
soon.
Anthony
