Yes, I did intend to draw a contrast between the NY Times article and 
Massad's views which I find quite problematic. Just to expand on this a 
bit, I find the whole notion of an Arab and or Muslim world being under 
siege from pro-imperialist homosexual rights NGO's quite problematic. 
The fact is that borders between the "West" and the "East" are quite 
porous in the days of the Internet, especially in Turkey which straddles 
Europe and Asia. Whenever repression is relaxed, same sexers tend to 
assert themselves. This was certainly true of the USA. Why should Arabs 
or Muslims be any different?
