I don't understand what exactly you are attempting to
emphasise by juxtaposing these two pieces--one is
(mostly) about same-sex relations in the Arab
developing world, the other is about sexuality of
migrant youth in Berlin.  Pardon the pun, but apples
and oranges. Some references below on the former
issue, and one thought: the first country in the world
to have constitutional prohibitions against
discrimination on the basis of sexuality was a third
world country (South Africa).
