[Marxism] candidates to Cuba

The three major capitalist candidates have all united
against Fidel Castro and the Cuban people. What a
surprise. Aside from what this means for US plicy
toward Cuba once the new administration takes office -
i.e. more of the same - it also means that all three
see Florida, and particular the Cuban emigre bastion
of right wing politics, as being IN PLAY in the
general elections.

Since Obama has been giving rabble raousing speeches
trying to drape himself in the robes of the labor
movement of the 30's, the civil rights movement of th
50's and 60's and the antiwar movement of the 60's and
70's - his nasty words regarding revolutionary Cuba
are worth paying attention to.

Castro's resignation "should mark the end of a dark
era in Cuba's history. ... Fidel Castro's stepping
down is an essential first step, but it is sadly
insufficient in bringing freedom to Cuba...

"Cuba's future should be determined by the Cuban
people and not by an anti-democratic successor
regime...The prompt release of all prisoners of
conscience wrongly jailed for standing up for the
basic freedoms too long denied to the Cuban people
would mark an important break with the past. It's time
for these heroes to be released."
