[Marxism] Attack on Martin Amis might cost Terry Eagleton his job

I recently attended a public panel discussion at the University of Manchester "Creative Writing Centre" (or whatever it's called) and was disappointed but not so surprised to find Amis simply verbalising the same banalities of his provocative and naive newspaper polemics. I thought that perhaps there would be some nuance or dialectic in a possible live topography of such "thought exercises" (as he described the exercising of his racist mental muscle)... but no. Had a longer period for questions from the floor been allowed, I would have liked to ask the Chair what on earth justification Manchester University has for allowing such toxic sentiment to flow out of its English Department. After all, the discussion hardly touched on literature.

Meanwhile, a five minute walk up the road will provide you with Eagleton and Zizek on "Cultures of Resistance" in mid/late March...
