[Marxism] Correction

Hello: This is correction to a previous post about
tomorrow’s Anti-Farc demonstration. The Polo
Democratico Alternativo’s official position is that
they are not marching, but they will hold a separate
demonstration one tour earlier in the day at the Plaza
de Bolivar, under their own banners and slogans: “For
a Humanitarian Accord”, “No to the War”, and “No to
Kidnapping”

(Below is the Polo’s official position statement
issued last Tuesday in Spanish.)

This position has caused a lot of confusion here which
has been magnified by the press. Four of the key
elements which led to this confusion were.

1)The Polo demonstration Hill take place at one of the
principal march sites of the Anti-FARC demonstration,
the Plaza Bolivar.
2) The Polo demonstration is on the same day as the
anti-FARC demonstration.
3) The Polo is marching against “kidnapping”, the
principal slogan being used by the right wing to
mobilize for their demo.
4) Statements to Colombian televisión and radio about
the march by Samuel Moreno, Mayor of Bogotá and the
most visible public figure of the Polo, saying that
the Polo was demonstrating against the terrorists of
the FARC under the same umbrella permission given to
the right wing march.

A campaign to boycott the right wing demonstration is
being carried out on the Internet. Attached is one of
the tools being used in that campaign.

The right wing demonstration originated in a Facebook
but quickly received the support of the whole
Colombian establishment. All of the major news media
are promoting it, vendors at are all major
intersections selling t-shirts promoting it, and a
very sophisticated World Wide campaign promoting it is
taking place on the Internet in many languages.

In the midst of this, new threats are being made
against the life of the president of the Polo, Carlos
Gaviria. According to the Polo they are from a
neo-nazi group.

More later, Anthony

siguientes consignas: POR EL ACUERDO HUMANITARIO: NO A

Presidente
