Obama is making a special effort to win Latino support and is
doing quite well at obtaining it. There was a big article on
Maria Elena Durazo's personal endorsement of Obama earlier in
the week in the LA Times. The Times was attacking her for it,
though they later came out for Obama, too. My own member of
congress, Xavier Becerra has encorsed Obama, as has one of
the two Sanchez sisters who are Members of Congress from
Orange County, California.

There is something important going on with the phenomenon
Obama's candidacy represents. HE doesn't represent it, but
the PHENOMENON is significant. Thanks to Louis for posting
that item by Susan Eisenhower today. She is supporting
Obama for GOOD reasons:

"Deep in America's heart, I believe, is the nagging fear that our best
years as a nation may be over. We are disliked overseas and feel
insecure at home. We watch as our federal budget hemorrhages red ink
and our civil liberties are eroded. Crises in energy, health care
and education threaten our way of life and our ability to compete
internationally. There are also the issues of a costly, unpopular
war; a long-neglected infrastructure; and an aging and increasingly
needy population."
