A statement by the PFLP
<http://www.pflp.ps/english/?q=battlefield-under-siege-statement-
pflp>
(Another report on the current
round of Israeli attacks.)

There are many political groups, with a range of
perspectives, giving voice to the Palestinian people.
Those engaged in armed struggle include:

Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades - Popular Front
for the Liberation of Palestine
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades - Fatah
Izzadeen al-Qassam Brigades - Hamas
National Resistance Brigades – Democratic Front
for the Liberation of Palestine
Popular Resistance Committees – Former members of Fatah
Saraya al-Quds – Islamic Jihad

Now, tell me again how Hamas is the only force
resisting Zionist aggression. Your passion for this
cause and understandable anxiety has lead you to make
errors of fact. Passion is not enough and you really
should do more research before berating people on this
list. That research will show you the historical basis,
and the continuing commitment, to the goal of a secular,
democratic state achieved by the revolutionary struggle
of the Palestinian people. If you do not share that
goal that is your decision and you can act accordingly.
I would urge you to think, seriously, about what
the goal of armed struggle should be. What is the
outcome that will best serve the people who have to
make those sacrifices? Supporting the just struggle
of another people, in another country, does not demand
that you surrender your reason, or judgment.

On this list you will find near universal agreement
that the people of Palestine should be supported
and the brutal aggression of Israel, paid for by
the US taxpayer, must be stopped. You will not get
everyone to line up and anoint Hamas, and its
Islamacist program, as the only authentic expression
of Palestinian nationalism. Your clue to this
reality is found in the name of the list:
Marxmail.

I have nothing more to say on this matter but
let me leave you with a little reading, from
the second congress of the PFLP:

National liberation battles are also class battles.
They are battles between colonialism and the feudal
and capitalist class whose interests are linked with
those of the colonialist on the one hand, and the other
classes of the people representing the greater part of
the nation on the other. If the saying that national
liberation battles are national battles is intended to
mean that they are battles waged by the overwhelming
majority of the nation's masses, then this saying is true,
but if it is intended to mean that these battles are
different from the class struggle between the exploiters
and the exploited, then the saying is untrue.
