If we were writing for a forum where people were confused about the fact that the UN/Minustah is acting on behalf of U.S.-led imperialism in Haiti, it would be another matter. But in this forum, it makes a lot more sense to discuss how and why a putatively anti-imperialist government, Evo's, is providing cover for the imperialist occupation of Haiti, and how both Bolivian leftists and international defenders of Bolivia against that same imperialism should deal with the fact.

Is there, BTW, anybody on this list who will argue that Bolivian participation in Minustah, however small and symbolic, does NOT help legitimize the occupation of Haiti in the eyes of well-intentioned people who are not clear-thinking, principled anti-imperialists?

Incidentally, the poorest people of Haiti, who are the main victims of Minustah and the colonial state it defends, have made their opposition to the occupation clear by putting their lives on the line, and sometimes losing them. Do the left and social movements in Bolivia, and their supporters around the world, need a written request from those Haitians before opposing Bolivia's participation in their oppression?
