The same applies, though less absolutely, to the white working class of the U.S. vis-a-vis not only Blacks but Mexicans/Chicanos, and immigrant groups like the Chinese of the late 19th/early 20th century. San Francisco's Union Labor Party, which actually governed the city for a few years a century ago, was virulently anti-Chinese.
