[Marxism] a putridly dishonest non-discussion

In light of all the things that merit airing here, Gibson's style has
very successfully steered the list into a complete cul-de-sac,
bringing out some of the worst tendencies.

He has wrongly attributed positions to various list members, several
of whom have replied by doing to the same thing, raising the
protocols, etc.  I am disgusted by the dishonest technique, regardless
of the position being taken.  In fact, it reminds me of years in the
SWP "discussionss" that, at the time, almost always followed just that
same predictable low road. Encountering it repeatedly does make me
feel very gratified to have not wasted any more of my life in such
activities than I had.

If others are as disgusted by this as I am, perhaps we can petition
the SWP to extend party membership--and maybe theorist status--to
those who've demonstrated their ability to recruit legions of strawmen
to demolish.
