One of the problems for anyone is the near monopoly US network coverage 
has. Usually this means, all-US, all the time. Even for non-political 
sports enthusiasts in the US, this is a pain. There are some 
alternatives. USAnetwork has alternative coverage of events as done 
HDnet. HDnet right now, for example, is covering the Cuba-Poland 
volleyball game. Search around and you can avoid the NBC US centric 
coverage.
