Call me cynical, jaded, paranoid,or even irresponsible, but... paranoids 
have real enemies, too.

Let's see:

1. Price of oil has declined more than 20% off its highs

2. Georgia is an important trans-shipment point for oil, with access to the 
Caspian, rail and pipeline networks for moving petroleum

3. Russia is what? #2, #3? exporter of oil?  #2 exporter of natural gas--  
supplying Europe.

You think maybe the US kind of gave a hedged wink and a nod to Georgia here, 
as part of Cheney's energy program?  Nahh... that would never happen, no 
more than the US would have given Iraq the old coded OK back in 1990 about 
invading Kuwait.

Let's see where oil prices go next week if the fighting continues.
