I don't quite understand what is meant by this "caved in to him."
Presumably Obama
would be the vice-presidential candidate on a ticket whose main
programmatic point would be the need for a massive governmental, and
international, program to at least stop ongoing global warming. How
would this be "caving in?" Certainly Obama (whose campaign has been
marked by the avoidance of anything even slightly radical) has
advanced not a single program that he would have to abandon. And he
would still be in line to be the first Black President (since Harding)
perhaps as early as 2012 (since the spirit, if not the letter, of the
22nd Amendment stands against anyone being elected President more
than twice). But if it means that Gore wouldn't allow his name to be
entered in nomination unless Obama asked him to, I would have to agree
with that expectation. In any event, it would make no political sense
for Gore and Obama to adopt that strategy until much closer to the
convention.
By the way, Obama has said he speaks with Gore "every three or four
days." Have they been coordinating strategy? Certain it is that
Obama, by destroying the Clintons and concentrating "MSM" Republican
fire on himself, seems to be playing a John The Baptist role for Gore!
