How I would read between the lines of Ahmadinejad is that he figures it is
the West's reliance on financial speculation instead of the production of
meaningful goods by industry that is clearly failing - and on the verge of
collapse. He, onthecontrary in looking to industrial (i.e. industrial
capitalist) development in and of Iran. Yes, of course, their Islamic
society is also excessively puritan and mysogenistic - and that is another
aspect, which Louis reckons is the main one - but I would certainly rather
put it as secondary, Iran has a highly developed profesional class; and
they mostly have a secular outlook - it is the poor who are mainly
influenced by the mullahs.

Louis: "If you read between the lines of Ahmadinejad's comments, you will
figure
out that capitalism in his eyes is identified closely with Western
society and not a mode of production analyzed in V. 1 of Capital."
