[Marxism] Stern Gang attack

Hallo Charles,

Thanks for your message.

I always look out for and read your contributions to the list, and you
evidently look for mine, so I will explain why my contributions have been so
infrequent of late.

The reason is that my darling wife of 63 years suddenly died in my arms on
16th December.

She had been under treatment for cancer for several years, and in gradually
deteriorating health, though in no pain, and I had expected to have a few
more years caring for her, but while helping her out of bed (she had bad
cold), she sudenly collapsed in my arms, and I was unable to revive her.

We had my elder grandson (who lives in France) staying with us at the time,
and he rang for an ambulance and helped me. A few days later our daughter
Susan (who lives elsewhere in France) came to help me over the funeral, and
when she returned to France Stephen and his wife and baby came to stay until
mid-February. When all my visitors had left I became more and more
depressed, but then made 10-day by air from Stansted to Pau to stay with
Susan and heer husband.

I returned greatly invigorated and almost completely out of my depression,
and am returning to getting on with things - not least looking after the
garden - for which Margery was the planner and I the workman.

I am off on Wednesday (in my camper so that I break my journey) up north to
see my eldest granddaughter and her husband, and Margery's youngest brother
and his family, making some other calls on old friends while I am away for a
week or so.

Kind regards and comradely greetings,
Paddy
