Robin Morgan's essay, link below, reminds us of the rampant sexism
that characterized much of the punditocracy as recently as two months ago.

How many people on this list knew that someone manufactured a nutcracker
shaped like Hillary Clinton with metal spikes between her thighs?

How many of you are laughing? I know someone is, because I myself laughed
when I heard about it. How deep is that? Very.

Recently I've read on some left lists and heard from some left people
the notion that
supporting Obama against Clinton is akin to supporting Black male voting rights
after the American Civil War and that it is an obligation of white
women to step aside
from the female candidate in the interests of opposing the greater evil, racism.

This counterposition is a trap.

We must not, I repeat, we must not fall into the trap of counterposing
Black rights
and women's rights or racism and sexism in this race. Doing so
obliterates half of all
Black people, women, and denies the multiplicity of identities that
all of us possess.
To Obama's credit he is not disrespecting HRC as a woman or making the argument
that Black trumps female in this race.
